Who We Are
SGC Group is named after the Late Shri Gurmukhdas Ji who started a propriety firm back in 1957 and took up general contracting work in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. With a quick wit and neat work to speak for himself, he went on to become one of the most reputed contractors of that time. The company is still known for its remarkable ‘Mahatma Phule Market’ now known as the ‘Santra Market’ in Nagpur, where the first Shell type RCC slab was cast under a Russian Architect’ design in 1967-68 in India. Then Home Minister YB Chavan had inaugurated the prestigious moment.
Family has always been integral to the group and has always been the strong foundation on which the company has been built. After Shri Gurmukhdas ji’s demise, his sons Dilip Kumar Bhawnani and Darshan Kumar Bhawnani took up the company and set off in different government departments making sure to carry the legacy. Later joined by his third son Anil Kumar Bhawnani in 1987, the company crossed a milestone of getting registered with the most prestigious department of Military Engineering Services. His youngest son Subhash Kumar Bhawnani joining the company in 1996 and the four dynamic brothers courageously handing active management; the company rose to success and was classified as the “Super Special Class Contractors” (no limit) in MES department in the year of 1998.
Late Shri Gurmukhdas Ji, Late Dilip Kumar Bhawnani and Late Darshan Kumar Bhawnani will always be a role model for the SGC Group and it is on their principals and ethics that the company today stands tall and proud as one of the leading players in the Construction and Engineering sector.
